With a 1000 acres of woods and heathland and quick transport links to central London, Wimbledon is a sought-after commuter zone. The village, at the top of the hill above Wimbledon town, is a popular destination for weekend shoppers and country walkers. My family and I have lived here for years so we know all the Wimbledon Village restaurants. Here’s a round up of places to eat in Wimbledon Village from Saturday brunches to delicious dinners.
Restaurants Wimbledon Village: British and European
The Black Lamb Wimbledon
Aiming to serve the best of British produce, The Black Lamb is a cosy neighbourhood restaurant in the heart of the village. Part of the Gladwin Brothers group, it’s a sister restaurant to The Shed in Notting Hill and Rabbit in Chelsea, and shares their farm to fork ethos inspired by the English countryside.
At the Black Lamb you’ll find modern British dishes, seasonal menus and wine pairings. Settle in for weekend brunch with Bloody Marys, Jersey oysters or the Black Lamb English breakfast. Choose the Local and Wild set menu with plant-led options or share a Sussex beef fillet Wellington for an indulgent dinner. Wine aficionados will enjoy the list of English wines from their own vineyard, Nutbourne. And there’s a 5-course set menu during the Wimbledon fortnight too. Closed on Mondays.

Light House
This well-established Wimbledon village restaurant has a contemporary European menu that changes regularly. You’ll find seasonal dishes plus set menus at lunch, early dinner and weekends.
You can savour the likes of harissa lamb rump, onglet steak with chips and peppercorn sauce, or chilli roast carrot, sugar snaps, broccoli and yellow coconut curry. With maybe a dark chocolate marquise or Neals Yard cheeses for pudding?

Light on the Common
A favourite Wimbledon cafe as well as lunch and dinner spot, this restaurant close to Wimbledon common is sister to the Light House.
Stroll in for smoothies, protein shakes or sourdough treats for breakfast. Snack on small plates like zuccini panzanella or larger dishes such as market fish stew for lunch or dinner. This Wimbledon Village restaurant promises the freshest seasonal ingredients and a regularly changing menu. The bar serves pastries at breakfast time and cocktails later on.
Light on the Common has an airy conservatory dining room and popular pavement tables too.
Côte Brasserie Wimbledon
The place to come for reliable steak frites and a French brasserie menu. Côte have more than 80 restaurants in the UK, but that works in their favour: you know what to expect. These brasseries pride themselves on their regional French specialities and Parisian favourites, partnered with a curated collection of French wines and tempting cocktail list.
Cote Wimbledon restaurant offers a popular and reasonably-priced prix fixe menu all day Monday to Friday and until 5pm on Saturdays. And there’s a special £25 set menu with 2 courses during Wimbledon fortnight.

The Ivy Cafe Wimbledon Village
Combining glamorous, colourful interiors with wide-ranging menus the Ivy Wimbledon is part of a chain of restaurants that tick a lot of boxes. Located in a popular spot in the village centre, it lives up to expectations with friendly service and a sophisticated brasserie style that embraces leisurely weekend brunches, family dinners or a special occasion.
This Wimbledon village restaurant offers all-day dining. So you can enjoy buttermilk pancakes or eggs Benedict at breakfast or tuck into their famous Shepherd’s Pie for supper. This is a favourite dish that dates from the original Ivy in London’s West End, founded in 1917.

Hand in Hand Wimbledon Common
For traditional British flavours and a great Sunday roast head to the common for a short leafy stroll to the Hand in Hand. This country pub dates back to the 1830s and has cosy nooks, a real fire and outdoor seating too.
One of the Youngs stable, ‘the Hand’ is famous locally for its well-kept pints (landlord Andrew hosts Real Ale masterclasses). Arrive hungry as portions are generous. Try classic British dishes like the home-baked pies or the whole rack of salt marsh lamb.
It’s always a good idea to book in advance for Sunday lunch, especially during the Wimbledon tennis championships.

Fox and Grapes
Just a short walk from the village, this traditional pub on Wimbledon Common is a former coaching inn. But nowadays it has evolved from dog walkers’ haunt to a chic gastro pub with rooms. Helmed by chef director Paul Merrett it serves a modern British menu with pub classics given an upmarket twist.
There’s an airy dining room and tables on the pavement outside. Currently closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Thai Restaurants Wimbledon Village
Patara Wimbledon
One of a small group, with branches in Europe, Singapore and Thailand, Patara promises authentically different flavours at this Thai restaurant in Wimbledon Village. Chefs trained in Thailand blend techniques from East and West to create Patara’s contemporary menu.
There’s a well-priced set lunch Monday to Friday, or dip into the a la carte menu for lobster tail noodles or sea bass with lime and chillies.

A village institution that always seems busy, the family-owned Thai Tho Wimbledon is cosy and reliable. Beloved by tennis greats over the years – see the signed photos on the walls – it serves a warm welcome and classic Thai dishes.

One from the colourful, contemporary Thai restaurant chain, Giggling Squid Wimbledon welcomes you with a friendly informal vibe and a riotously floral interior.
As befits the GS remit the all day menu offers ‘Thai tapas’ with small dishes and sharing platters of street food flavours like satay skewers, spring rolls and salt and pepper squid along with tasty dipping sauces. Italian Restaurants Wimbledon Village
Cent Anni
With olive trees at the doorway and a classic menu, Cent Anni is an independent Italian restaurant in Wimbledon village. The menu of Italian favourites offers handmade fresh pasta and thin-crust pizzas, while current main courses include rib of beef on the bone, grilled salmon and veal Milanese.
Check out the weekday set lunch menu and look out for the special offers: Pizza Monday, Pasta Tuesday and Wine Wednesday. It has a children’s menu too.
Carluccio’s Wimbledon
Serving classic Italian dishes at reasonable prices, the Carluccio’s group of restaurants offer all-day menus of authentic Italian favourites. The Caluccio Wimbledon branch has been here in the village for years.
The crowd-pleasing menu ranges from breakfast eggs to pastas, risottos, pizzas and salads plus Italian main dishes and, internationally popular, burgers.
Carluccio Wimbledon has foodie gifts and treats for sale at the front of the dining room. Whilst the little tables on the pavement are the perfect place for a great morning coffee on a sunny day.

Pizza Express Wimbledon
Another venerable chain restaurant in Wimbledon village, this pizzeria has been dishing up Italian fodder for decades. You know what to expect from Pizza Express: thin, crispy Romana pizzas, ‘Leggera’ versions with salad in the centre, folded calzones and a full range of pizzas with gluten-free bases.
This Wimbledon village restaurant has two floors, with an open kitchen on the ground floor and some pavement seating too.

Maison St Cassien Wimbledon
An independent café restaurant in Wimbledon village that’s located in the heart of the action at the top of Church Road. Just a 15 minute walk away from Centre Court, it’s not surprising to see photos of famous tennis faces on the walls and a thank-you from Andy Murray on the website.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere as you pore over the menu packed with Mediterranean flavours. There’s a focus on Lebanese food with lamb shawarma, falafels and Lebanese mezze, as well as focaccia and ciabatta sandwiches; you’re bound to find something to take your fancy. Plus they serve a generous full English breakfast or a beef or chicken burger if only a classic hunger-buster will do.
Sit inside or pick one of the desirable outdoor tables in full sun or the shady courtyard. Maison St Cassien opens at 7 am each day. So you could grab an early coffee with the locals on your way to a not-too-early start at the Wimbledon Tennis queue.

Megan’s in the Village
With fairy lights, flowers and basketweave light fittings in abundance, Megans Wimbledon sets the scene for a fun, relaxed meal with friends. From one little cafe in Chelsea, the group has grown to 20 locations in London, all with a welcoming neighbourhood feel.
Choose from a menu of dishes ‘from sunny places’: Mediterranean-inspired home recipes with some modern twists. Try flavours from the eastern Med with a Turkish brunch or a mezze supper, pitas or open kebabs. Cocktails and carafes have a holiday feel too, with reduced prices for a round of cocktails at happy hour and nightcap times.
Megan’s in the Village opens onto the pavement with tables spilling outside in the summer months. It’s dog friendly too which is handy so close to the common.

Argentinian Restaurants Wimbledon Village
Parilla Argentina
This comfortable Argentinian restaurant in Wimbledon village serves steaks (of course) by cut and weight, plus burgers and escalopes.
Sharing platters include an Argentinian Experience with starters and steak plus chicken and vegetable skewers. Or choose the El Gaucho sampler to try four different cuts of Argentine steak along with fries, salad and sauce.

Little rustic Chango on Wimbledon high street serves empanadas, the Argentinian savoury pastries, to take away. Choose from a variety of fillings like traditional beef, spicy chicken, pumpkin and goats cheese or humita vegan: a spiced pumpkin and sweetcorn mix.
If you decide to eat at the counter you can pair these with a selection of Argentinian wines too. Closed on Mondays.
Indian Restaurants in Wimbledon Village
Rajdoot Tandoori
Rajdoot has been a fixture in the heart of the village since 1982, run by two generations of the same family. It has a traditional menu of classic Indian dishes to eat in, take away or for delivery. Open from 5pm.
Village Tandoori
This local Indian restaurant has moved next door from its previous home on the Ridgway and is newly refurbished. It has an extensive menu of Indian favourites for eating in, take away or delivery. Open from 5pm.

FAQs
The nearest tube and train station is in Wimbledon town. The District line tube runs to Wimbledon whilst the Northern line service stops at South Wimbledon. It’s a 10 minute walk from Wimbledon station up the hill to the village and frequent buses link the two areas. From South Wimbledon you can catch a 93 bus along Wimbledon Broadway and on to the village.
The All England Lawn Tennis Club on Church Road is a 15 minute walk from Wimbledon Village.
